Challenges Chart - Film Study

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today for film study we were giving a task to complete where we had to make a presentation about a character and challenges they faced, how they reacted and what is showed about that particular character.

What am I learning?
I am learning how to understand how characters are developed in a film.

How does this show my learning?
I have created a challenges chart slideshow that features two characters to show my understanding of this particular topic.

What am I wondering as a result of this learning?
Why are challenges charts used as a way to show our understanding of a character?

Week 2 Reflections

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post! It is Friday so it is the day for reflections. For this week I chose to write a post about my accomplishments this week.

"This week I felt a sense of accomplishment when I:"

  • I finished a very challenging Essay for hurumanu 2 (Math and Social Studies) and we only had 1 - 2 weeks to finish it.
  • I finished learning a piano piece for music that was very challenging for me to learn.
  • I finished all my work for health and I felt very proud.

Well being Time!

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today for wanānga we had well been time and for that, we had to pick an activity to do for 10 minutes. I decided to learn some phrases from other languages with Alliah and Aili. We learned some phrases from Korean, French, Thai, Chinese and Malay (Malaysian Language).

For Korean, Alliah taught us how to say some basic phrases. Like:
안녕하세요
- Hello/Hi
annyeonghaseyo (ahn-nyung-ha-se-yo)
감사합니다
 - Thank you
gamsahabnida (gam-sab-nida)
반갑습니다
- Nice to meet you
bangabseubnida (bahn-gap-seup-ni-da)
괜찮아요
- It's Okay
gwaenchanh-ayo (gwaen-chanh-ah-yo)

Nutrition Experiments

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post! For science, we have been doing experiments to test out if different kinds of foods have simple sugars, complex sugars and proteins in it. We did a total of 3 experiments with 6 different foods. Each experiment had different methods for it, and we had to work in groups, I was with Alliah, Emily, Milan, and Lucy.

Methods:

Complex Sugars: - Iodine
We first put the food in a test tube, we then put around 3 - 5 drops of iodine in the test tube to see if it would change colour to a blue/black solution. - If the solution turns black or blue then there is a complex sugar present. -

Simple Sugars: - Benedicts Solution
We again put the food in the test tube but this time we put 2ml of benedicts solution and heated it for one minute. - If the solution turns orange and green then it means there are simple sugars present in that food. -

Protein: - NaOH, CuSO
Again, we put the food in the test tube and then we add five drops of each chemical, NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) and CuSO (Copper Sulfate). After that, we then gently mixed it side to side so that none of the contents would spill out.

EXPERIMENTS

Complex Sugar - Hypothesis
We thought that bread, potato, milk, and egg had complex sugars in it.
Bread Yes
Potato Yes
EggNo
AppleNo
MilkNo
Sugar No

Simple sugar - Hypothesis
For this experiment, we thought that apple and sugar had simple sugars in it.
Bread No
Potato No
EggNo
AppleYes
MilkNo
Sugar No

Though the sugar didn't really work, sugar is a simple sugar.

Proteins - Hypothesis
For the last experiment we though that egg and milk had protein in it.
Bread No
Potato No
EggYes
AppleNo
Milk Yes
Sugar No

Analysing the plot of a film - Coraline

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post. For hurumanu 2 film study, we had to complete a task where we either had to create a timeline or a Freytag pyramid of the plot of Coraline. I chose to do a Freytag Pyramid because it seems easier.

What am I learning?
- I am learning how to analyse the plot of the film.

How does this work show my learning?
- I have created a Freytag pyramid to show my understanding.

What am I learning as a result of this learning?
- Is there any other form of DLO's to show the plot?
