Phobias - What are they?

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post. Today I have completed an activity for our health subject. In that activity, we had to choose a topic I chose the 'Staying Mentally Well' tasks. From there I had to choose another topic to do research on, I chose to know more about Phobias. For this, we had a range of tasks that tells us what to find about that topic.

To present my answers I have created a presentation and a poster to show my answers.

What is the Whare Tapa Wha?

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today in Health we learned more about the Whare Tapa Wha and how our well being (Hauora) is doing. I hope you learn something and enjoy reading my post!

What is the Whare Tapa Wha?

It is the four walls of Hauora, they are interconnected and if one of the walls collapse of isn't doing well all four walls wouldn't be able to work as well. To sum it up it is the house of health, called the Whare Tapa Wha.

How did I participate in this lesson?

I participated well and contributed by finishing my work and listing down how well my well being is. Next time I will try to make my work better.

What is the current state of my Hauora?

My Hauora is well, all are stable, but I know I need to work off my Taha Whānau.

This is the work I did. It was listing down all the things that I do to help my well being.

Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020 • Week 3 • Day 4 - Activity 2

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post. Today I will be doing another activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Enjoy!

Activity 2: IMOKO

Dr Lance O'Sullivan is a Māori doctor who lives in Kaitaia, Northland. He ha committed his life to improve the health and well-being of both his patients and people in the local community. In 2014 he was named New Zealander of the Year.

Together, Lance and his wife, Tracy, have started some very cool projects in New Zealand including affordable clinics, the Kāinga Ora (healthy homes) initiative and the MOKO Foundation. The MOKO Foundation provides healthcare for students in school-based clinics. He has also started iMOKO, a digital initiative (programme) whereby people living in communities without doctors, in Kaitaia. The doctors look at the photos, provide advice and can send a script to the local pharmacy so that the patient can get medicine. This programme is improving the health and well-being of people living in rural Northland.

For this activity, we had to share five things that we or the people in our family do to stay healthy and strong.

Healthy food VS Junk Food

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post today I want to talk about some fun activities we did in Drama hurunamu. On Tuesday we made a puppet and learned about healthy eating. We first broke into 2 groups, one group was making the puppets while the other group did an activity about healthy eating and Hauora.

For puppet making, we first had to create a character, then make a draft on some white A4 paper. Then we labelled each part of the drawing, etc. colour: green, red. After that, we now got to make the puppet. My character was a tomato and the purpose of making the puppets was to send a message to people to eat healthy food.

After that we then swapped over, we were now learning about what healthy food and junk food can do to the four walls of Hauora. After learning about that, we listed some of the things healthy food and junk food can do to the four walls of Hauora.
