SCHOOL IS HEREEE!!!!

School is finally here, tomorrow I am starting intermediate.  I hope everyone has a good luck on their first day of school.  

THE 2017 WRAP UP!

It's a little bit late for this wrap up, beacuse it is already 2018, but we still got time right.  It is also my last year in Hornby Primary.  So lets get started on Term 1, let's see what did happen in term 1, well let's go and see.

Term 1: 

In Term 1, we visited Spencer park to do some activities, and collect some things for our treasure art back at school.  I was really excited since we were also gonna go to the beach.  But whne it started my group didn't get to collect any since the teacher that was with us thought we were gonna go back again.  We also got to play on the park play volleyball and explore.  So when we got back to school my group had to go and collect some at school.  So I picked everything and started on my art, after I finished it which was in about 2 days it looked like this. 

Reading; In reading for term 1 we learned about the Maori traditional games, we had to get in group of 2 and pick which game you would like to do.  My partner and I did a DLO revolving around how to make string figures, like a broomstick our DLO turned out like this.  

We also did some traditional and cultural dances, like the "Samoan Sasa" and the "Super Haka with the Ti Rakau Sticks".  

Term 2:

In Term 2 we did a mystery research, there we here a lot of topic, so first what we did was we had to pick a topic and do some research about it.  Then after the research we had to get in groups and create some about the topic.  My topic was about Easter Island, Easter Island's mystery was the statue's called Moai.  We also had to write speeches about our creations. My group did a whole island made out of cardboard.  We also made a mountain out of paper mache it was really fun and also very challenging.

We also did a lot of activities on our topic like a timeline. But the main mystery in Easter Island was how the Moai/statue's was built.  Eventually we didn't find out the answer.

Term 3:
Term 3 was an amazing term we had an extravaganza, the year 6's was lucky to have an extravaganza since the other year 6's didn't have one.  So our theme was NZ Past to present, and my class did NZ Music Month.  We listened to some music from the 1900's to 2000's, then we had to pick which song are we going to and then get into groups.  I pick 6 months in a leaky boat, the music was good and the tune was also very good, it was also easy to dance to.  Then at the end of our performance we had to get on the stage again and the most voted song which is called Why does love do this to me.  So then we had to dance to it.  It was a fun and crazy performance.  So then I had another performance and it was about culture, I had a group, amd we dance Tinikling (from Philippines),

We also learned something about binary numbers.

Reading: In reading we did a novel study there were 4 choices. Holes, Among the hidden, Freak the might, Number the Stars.  I picked Among the hidden because it had a very attractive tittle.  So then we had to do some activities like doing a character description and many other things we had to finish our reading early because of the extravaganza. 

Term 4:
Term 4, which is in the season of summer, that means there is swimming.  So first we are going to Canterbury Swim School for swimming lesson.  We did that for 2 weeks and then took swimming lessons at school.

We also had an Athletics day, there were basic activities like sprints and high jump.  I put up a post about this, here is a link. 

Writing:
In writing we had to pick a topic of our own and do some research about your topic I picked pyramids.  So then it probably took about 3-4 weeks to complete the whole research.  

3 ~ 2 ~ 1!!!!

START THE COUNTDOWN 3 - 2 -1!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone, let's say a big farewell to 2017, and a Hello to 2018.  I will really miss 2017 because a lot of amazing things happened and I also met some amazing people. We all still have a few more weeks until Term 1 of school starts, so lets enjoy or holiday until we can.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas,

Merry Christmas, everyone school had just ended and now it is time for the summer holidays.  I wish every a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 

E-O-T-C!

"YAY! It is time for EOTC WEEK"  This is the time of year where we do our traditional EOTC week which is means "Education Outside The Classroom".   I was really excited and happy, and also very sad because it was my last year here.  For the actvities we did Clip n' Climb, Ice skating,  Surfing with fish n chips, Mega air, Jellie Park and Sailing.

First Day: Clip n' Climb and Ice skating (Thursday)

• On our first day was Clip n' Climb and Ice Skating, I was and really excited for the Ice Skating but I was nervous and both excited for Clip n' Climb because you have to climb up some obstacles that are really high.  So it was now thime to go, my friend, was holding on to me that is because she was scared.  So we got onto the bus and we got droven to Clip n' and Climb. 

• Once we got there the first group went to go climbing first, so our group had to wait for a 30 minutes, so in that 30 minutes we played and games and ate some food.  So then after that it was now our turn to go climbing, so my group went down the stairs to put on our safety gear.  I was really excited, so for our safety gear we had to wear a harness, so then after that the instructor walked us to the climbing room.  I was getting excited, so we started climbing,  started on the square one which goes really high. So after 30 minutes we finished and got on the bus to go to ice skating. 

• So the bus drove us to the ice skating rink, when we went inside the ice skating rink,it was freezing.  So I put on my long socks and went to get my skate's, I put it on and went to my group and lined up.  So my friend and I went inside the ice rink, and started ice skating, my other friends didn't know how to skate so I teached them how to. After 1 hour or 2 we finished and went on the bus to go back to our school.  

Second Day:Surfing and Fish and Chips (Friday)

• On our next day we were going to do some surfing and fish n' chips, it was really gonna be a hot day so I put on some sun screen.  So after the long bus ride, we where at Sumner beach, the sun was and shining and the waves where crashing (Literally).  So we got started, we got separated into 3 groups, I was lucky because I was with my friends.  So when the other groups had finished, our group put on our wet suit and got divided to groups.  My groups was called "Dolphin" the other group was "Seal".  In my group we were doing surfing first, i was so excited.  
• So we got ready and went in the water, and started surfing, I went near the deep one and got on my board and road the wave stood up about at half way and fell down as I was gonna do a turn.  It was really fun, and there is something we also learned "The Shaka" it means when you stand get a chance to stand up on the your board.  

• So for lunch we got some fish n' chips with some donuts, so I finished my lunch and got lined up for the next activity, the next activity was body boarding.  I was really excited because body boarding and fun and easy.  So i took my board and and walked out waited for a wave and lied down on my board and road the wave to shore.  So then after that we went to go change and pack.  But somethings terrible had happened, 3 or 2 people was caught in  a rip, which is a wave that pulls you in and take you back to sea.  When that is happening a loud siren will play and the people lose their consciousness.  

Third day:Big day out (Friday, Mega Air and Jelly Park)

• It was finally time to go to mega air, mega air is a trampoline place.  So we get split into groups, of two with the years 4.  I was in the first group with my friends, we had to walk to mega air because it was really near to our school.  So when we got there we started off by watching a safety video.  Then after we started jumping, I started on the tumbling track and then went of th foam pit then on the air pit.  So then after that we went back to relax and get packed to go to jelly park.  
• So we got on the bus to jelly park and the bus drove us to jelly park, we got changed and ready to go swimming, but before that we had to put on sunscreen and a hydro slide pass.  i went with my friend to go swimming to the hydro slide first the line was big so we waited until we got to the top.  When we go to the top we picked the super fast slide, I got on and raced my friend.  Soon enough we found ourselves going, we probably stayed there for about 1 hours. 

Fourth Day/Last day: Sailing (Thursday 

• It was finally the last day, which was sailing I was really excited for sailing because I knew how to sail.  SO first we were split in groups, I was with my friend who was quite scared, so the first thing we needed to do was build our sail.  So after a few minutes, our sail was built we had morning tea and some time to practice on the sail.  So then we picked some sail's to put on the water, then we started to do a one on one practice with the instructors.  I went on the sail and drove the boat, the wind wasn't picking up so I was driven back.  I got inside the water, and helped out, we got into groups to practice ourselves.  A few hours later, my groups was freezing, so we decided to get changed and eat some lunch.  So then everyone got out and started helping us by taking apart the boat and loading them onto the storage room. So then the bus was here and we were driven back.
