Hi everyone! Welcome to another post today for science we learned about Convection and Conduction. Convections happens when the heat is transferred by the movement of liquid or gas and Conduction happens when heat passes through a material. After learning about there purposes we then had to create a stop motion about convection or conduction. For this activity, we were allowed to work in pair so my friend and I chose to do convection. We used google slides to create stop motion, so you will need to go through the slides at a fast pace. Enjoy watching our stop motion!
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Business and Enterprise
Business and Enterprise
Week 1: During the first week of Business and Enterprise, we were introduced to the topic and guest speakers told us about their business, how they work and how they managed to to get to where they are now. During our Wananga class, we learned more about the topic and got to create our groups. We only were allowed to have 4 people in our group and they each had a role. The CEO (Chief Executive Officer), Marketing Manager, Production Manager and Sales/Finance Manager.
Week 2: During the second week we started on our business plans, and another round of guest speakers were introduced to us. Our group was split up and we were allocated a place where a guest speaker would talk about our role in the business. I was CEO so I had to be in a group with all the CEOs. We also started our Financial Report. We also did our letter of application to give to our teacher so that they can accept our company.
Week 3: We started our poster for the front of our stall, we then started or marketing, like creating our logos, a slide presentation to be shown to the school and the community and lastly a poster for our stall. We did that for the rest of the week since our topic was food and our production starts on the fourth week.
Week 4: Week 4 was the week of the market day, so we only had 2 days to fully create both of our products. On Monday we created our Jelly for our Coffee Jelly and on Tuesday we completed making the Leche Flan and Coffee Jelly. Then on Wednesday 23rd September, we had our Market day.

Market Day
On the morning of the market day we all were busy trying to create our foods and set up our stalls outside this was between 8:40 to 9:30. At 10 we took out our products and displayed them on our table. Market Day officially started at 10:30 am, our stall had many people that bought coffee jelly and we had sold out of it really early, and near the middle of the market day we sold out our flans and people bought 2 flans with meringue for $2.00, which I thought was a very good deal. We also had a dj during market day, which I thought was very convenient.

Instrument Evaluation
I have studied piano, guitar and ukulele. For the piano, we learned some beginner and advanced songs, which I enjoyed a lot. In guitar, we also had to learn a song and it was very enjoyable for me. For ukulele, we studied an easy song that I liked very much.
2. Which instrument have you enjoyed and why?
I enjoyed learning all of the instruments, but the instrument I liked learning the ost would be the piano. Because I have learned piano before and it was easy for me to learn the chords and how both hand flow together.
3. Which instrument did you find the most challenging and why?
I found the guitar the hardest because my hands couldn't reach the corrects chords properly.
4. Which instrument are you going to focus on for the rest of the term and why? What would you like to achieve?
I am going to do the piano for the rest of the term because I enjoy playing the piano. I would like to finish learning a classical piece.

Ukulele Reflections
Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today we have completed learning a song for the ukulele and after that, we then are starting to learn the guitar. But before that, we had to answer some questions about the ukulele and our experience with it.
1. Describe your study of ukulele, have you enjoyed it? Found it hard/easy?
It was very fun to learn about the ukulele, especially because I knew how to play some chords on it. I found it easy to learn because I already knew how to play the ukulele before.
2. Where is the ukulele from? Where was It formed? by who?
The ukulele is from Hawaii, but it first originated in Europe and then it was introduced to Hawaii. It was believed that Manuel Nunes was one of the creators of the Hawaiin ukulele.
3. Add a labelled picture of the ukulele:

4. Which song have you been learning?

Particle Theory and Diffusion
Hi, everyone! Welcome to another post. Today for science we have begun learning about particle theory and diffusion. We first learned about what matter is and how both of these topics relate to matter. After that, we learned what particle theory and diffusion is.
| Particles |
- All matter is made up of particles.
- All particles in a pure substance are the same.
- There is space between all particles.
- Particles are always moving.
- There are attractive forces between particles.
- Temperature affects the speed at which particles move.
- Put warm water and cold water into a cylinder cup with a wide base of the same size. The containers have to be the same size.
- Get some KMn04 ( Potassium Permanganate)
- Put the KMn04 in both the warm water and cold water. - They have to be the same amount.

Week 6 Reflection
Hi everyone! Welcome to another post! Today is Friday, so we have to do our weekly reflections. This week I decided to do a post about "This week I felt a sense of belonging when:".
- During hurumanu 1 people who were finished with their work were given free time and we played games and it made me feel very warm.
- At music, we were learning how to play a song on the ukulele together with the whole class and it was very enjoyable.
- During P.E we were playing korfball we were trying to shoot the ball but we couldn't so we just kept playing and it was very funny and delightful at the same time.

30sec Self Directed Film - Film Study
Process:
We first had to choose what our film is going to be about. We chose to do a horror film where a group member would retrieve a kicked ball from a bush. After choosing our topic, we then had to create a storyboard showing our plan for our film. After that, we then recorded our film and afterwards, we then finished filming and started editing our video.

Goal
Brainstorm, what should we do? Topic?
By the end of the day: We finished planning and
discussing the rules of the game.
Topic: Pollution/Sustainability
Project: Physical game - Sustainability
|
Goal
Finish Writing our Rules
Finish writing what each role
is meant to do.
By the end of the Day:,
We finished writing the rules
and roles of the game. |
Goal
Finish blog post
By the end of the day:
Finished a blog post
- Needs to be published - |
Topic: Pollution
the planters are released, they have to find the seedlings. A few seconds after the planters are
released, the polluters will be released, and they have to find the seedlings.
- Note: YOU´RE NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO THE OTHER TEAM’S JAIL/GARDEN AND GET THE SEEDLINGS, ONLY THE SEEDLINGS ARE ALLOWED TO GET THEM!) DON'T PRETEND TO BE ONE OF THE SEEDLINGS. PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT!
Rules:
- The taggers ( planters and polluters ) are not allowed to just barge in a prison and steal the seedlings.
- No Cheating
- The seedlings are the only one allowed to get/tag other seedlings from jail.
- Seedlings: Their main objective is to hide from both the planters and the polluters. If a planter tags them they are then taken to the planters prison where a planter will be stationed too. A seedling can get out of their prison/garden when another seedling has tagged them. The same happens with the polluters. Except when the seedlings are there for more than 3 minutes they become a polluter.
- Planters: Their main objective is to catch as many seedlings as they can. One of them has to guard the jail, and they have to be at least 2 metres away from the prison. The others have to try and tag all of the seedlings and bring them to their garden.
- Polluters: Their main objective is to catch all of the seedlings and turn them into polluters. The polluters also have a prison of their own where a guard will be stationed, and they to be at least 2 metres away from the prison
should be positive too. In their garden, one planter can be stationed in front of the garden but
they have to be at least 2 metres away from the garden. If they tag a seedling and the seedling
is still in their
seedling is captured and put into the prison there is a high chance that they can turn into a
polluter. If they are still in prison for 3 minutes then they are now polluters and will help them
capture other seedlings. The polluter can also have a guard stand by the prison, but they
have to be at least 2 metres away from it.
To do that they need to risk their lives and try to get into each tagger's prisons and tag the
seedling so they could get out.

Week 5 Reflections
This week I noticed my feelings and emotions was:
- I also felt very lethargic because I couldn't walk well with my right foot and it was hard to walk to classes on time, but luckily I arrived on time.
- I was very lazy and slow this week. I don't really know why because I slept very early and then I felt very sleepy in the afternoon, which was unusual because by the afternoon I would be very energetic.
Week 4 Reflections
This week I felt affirmed in my unique identity when:
- A needle went inside my food and I was very scared because it felt very long and I was very scared but I didn't scream or cry, which I am very proud of.
- I screamed at my sister and she screamed back at me and then we screamed together and then we got ice cream.

Sustainability Investigation
We first collected data on animals that have been threatened over the 2 decades and we then used a spreadsheet to create a graph of the data we have collected.
