Dig more Holes! Any treasure!

"Its time to dig more HOLES!"   Welcome back to another blog post, for this blog post I will be telling you about my novel study.  So for our novel study we had to do a drawing of the setting of the camp green Lake.  I have drawn a bird side view of camp green lake, using many different shapes.

Camp Green Lake?
About in the first half of the story, Stanley was being driven to camp green lake.  Camp green lake didn't have a lake and it wasn't green, it was actually a place for bad boys who did bad things.  The camp had a office, the wardens house, 2 oak trees with hammock, tents/cabins, wreck room, shower, eating room and the water truck.  There is also the god's thumb which is a mountain.

If there is anythings I need to improve on please write it in the comments bar, hope you enjoy!

1st Place!

On November the 28th we had our Athletics day, the events I participated in was long jump, high jump, sprints, discuss, shot put and long distance.   The little kids were doing  Athletics first, then after morning tea, we did the sprints.  I was getting nervous, and it was also really hot, there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  We also had to line up in our age lines, so I would be against some really fast people.  After waiting for so long it was finally our turn.

1.Sprints
As I said it was finally our turn, the first row of girl lined up, I was on the second row, with 2 of my friends.  Then the starting blocks clapped the first row of girls went, my heartbeat was starting to raise. But then some boys had come and lined up, it was a good things because I needed to calm down a bit.
I lined up and got ready, as soon I heard the loud clap, I sprinted as hard I can.  When I got to the finish line, i had just realized that I had come 2nd, a teacher had given me a block, and also told me to go to the table, where they were taking places.
I was getting excited because I was doing the finals, so we walked back to the starting line and got started on the finals.  When I got to the finish line a friend told me that I came 3rd place, of course I was very happy.

2.High jump
After sprints, we had some lunch and played for a bit, then it was time for Athletics to start, so again we lines up in our group lines.  We were on high jump first, I was lucky, that is because I was pretty good at doing high jump.  So we get started and after a few minutes, we had almost finished, Evelyn and I were trying to jump but we couldn't so it was a tie between Evelyn and I.

3.Long jump
Next was long jump, Evelyn and me lined up and got ready on our first try we got 2.70 meters, which was awesome.  So then we had a jump off, I was first I got 2.60 meters and Evelyn got 2.65.  So I got 2nd place.  After long jump we had rest.

4.Shot put
After we rested we had shot put, which wasn't my specialty but I tried my best.

5.Long Distance
Next was long distance, we had to do 4 laps of the field.  It was time to get started, I jogged from the start but slowly come to the front, eventually after that I came first.

6.Discuss
Lastly which is discuss, I was getting nervous, but I tried my best and had went to the finals.  So in the finals I had the number 6.  So when the teacher called the numbers out my number had called out.  I was so happy, I actually came 3rd place which was good.

I had a fun and cool day.

KING PYRAMID

WOW! What a day, for the past 2 weeks we have been working on our writing research report.  That is probably why I haven't posted in the last 2 weeks.  In my class we have been working really hard because it has been a muddily 2 weeks since we had our tests.  Please enjoy reading my information report.

King Pyramid
Konichiwa, my name is Lyan, today I am here to tell you all about Ancient Pyramids.  Yes, about those amazing, and mysterious pyramids.   Pyramids are an amazing wonder to the world.  A lot of people visit the pyramids here today, but there are still mysteries hidden in this great pyramids. Pyramids are one of the seven wonders in the world, The great Pyramid of Giza is the biggest of all the pyramids.  Pyramids are still a big mystery to the world, although some of the mysteries were solved.   Now let’s kick things off with information about the Ancient Egypt.

Where is Egypt?
Egypt is in the continent of africa, it covers about 995,450 square kilometres of land and about 6,000 square kilometres of water.  “Whoa, that’s big!” Egypt is the 30th largest nation in the world, that makes a total of 1,001,450 square kilometres that they have covered around the continent. Big Question: So for the big question, (means what are we really learning about) the big question would have to be, What are the pyramids purpose and what is a pyramids history? We are gonna try to solve that question.

Let’s introduce what pyramids is..
  • Pyramids are built for what they call Pharaohs and for their Queens.  Pharaohs can also be called a Egyptian king.
  • The Pharaohs were buried in the pyramid as of they wish if they can join the people in heaven.
  • The Pharaohs were stored in tombs, the tombs were designed to protect the Pharaohs buried body and his belongings.
  • The people also brought some other things for the Pharaoh, so they can succeed in their afterlife.
  • There are still some pyramids standing but probably not found yet.
  • After a few years inside the tomb the pharaohs become mummified.

Types of Pyramids
There are a lot of different kinds and types of pyramids like The Pyramid of Djoser, The Pyramid of Djoser is a step pyramid.  A step pyramid is made like a stairs but with big blocks.  Another one is about the Buried Pyramid it is a unfinished step pyramid but it got buried.  There are many more pyramid with different shapes read more and find out exciting and new things.

How did they built the Pyramids?
Now this paragraph is about how pyramids are built.  Archeologist has been trying to solve how it was built for years and finally they had solve why.  They say that slaves cut up blocks and slowly stack it one block at a time.  The great pyramid of Giza had about 20,000 thousand people building, The great pyramid of giza took about 23,000 years.  The pyramid took really long to built that the pharaohs started building their pyramids when they started ruling.

New Pyramids!?!
For the past few months archaeologists has found new pyramids around Egypt, here is a site that will give you information about the new following pyramids in Egypt.  New pyramids.  A few months ago researchers have found the remains of a pyramid dating back to the 13th dynasty, which rules about 3,700 years ago.  No one knows there might be a few more pyramids still standing around Egypt.

The 3 great Giza Pyramids
There are 3 famous pyramid and it is all located in Giza, some of the pyramids of Giza are the most grandest and richest. But through the years some people had stolen the gold and jewelries. Several Giza’s pyramids are counted the most largest and biggest structures in the world.

  • The Great pyramid of Khufu or as called The Great Pyramid of Giza is the biggest of the pyramids as I told you on the first paragraph.  The pyramid was built by none other than the Pharaoh Khufu, Hemiunu an architect built it around the 26th century basically in 2550 B.C.  B.C means Before Christ or before Jesus was born. The great pyramid of Khufu’s height is about 481 feet, in meters the height would be about 147.  Khufu also had a son named Khafre, which also had built a pyramid, *Information Down Below*.  Khufu’s pyramid was the largest and tallest manmade structure for over 38,000 years.  Khufu’s pyramid is also weighed about 5.9 million tons.

  • This one is called the The Pyramid of Khafre, actually Khafre is the son of Pharaoh Khufu. Khafre, built his pyramid in the 26th century, same as his father but in different years.  Khafra’s pyramid was built in 2520 B.C.  The pyramid of Khafre is also home to the Great Sphinx.  He had built his pyramid on higher ground as so, his pyramid would be the tallest.  His one was the 2nd largest of the pyramids of giza, the height of the pyramid is about 471 feet which is approximately about 144 metres tall.  Khafre also had another name and that is Khafra.  It was also he who built his own pyramid.

  • Next one is the pyramid of Menkaure, it is the smallest of both of the other pyramids.  It is also the last great pyramid built.  Pharaoh Menkaure built his pyramid in 2490 B.C, in the 25th century.  It's height is about 213 feet (which is 65 metres).  Menkaure built his pyramid approximately next to Khufu’s and Khafre’s pyramid.  Menkaure was the grandson of Khufu, which means that Menkaure’s dad who is Khafra, was the son of Khufu.

Cursed Pyramids
In 1992, Howard Carter, made an extravagant discovery in egypt, he found the tomb of the famous Pharaoh Tutankhamun.  Tutankhamun’s pyramid was located in The Valley of the Kings.  The pyramid held Tutankhamun’s mummy and many of treasure and special things that he may need in his afterlife.  His pyramid was called KV62.   He was only 9 years old when he became a pharaoh, then a few years when he was 19 years old he died.  No one knew why he died.

However after this find strange things began to happen.  Howard Carter’s pet bird got bitten by a Cobra, could this be the curse.  Ancient Egyptians, also though that cobra’s are the guardians of the tombs.  The just a few weeks after the that the man who paid for the discovery had died after he visited the pyramid.  He died because he had a mosquito bite, that became infected.  Other people who visited the pyramid’s tomb also suffered over the next few years.

Rumors spread through the world about the cursed tomb, some people thought that ancient magic was at work.  No one dared to enter the pyramid, after those crestfallen death’s, they believed that whoever enters the pyramids would be punished.  Anubis was the god of the dead and the guard of the pyramids and tombs, some people say his curse was for anyone who enters the tomb and the pyramid.  But we all know that some other pyramids aren’t cursed, maybe because Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s had a tragic death.  A message about the mummy’s cursed was written on the statue of Anubis, it said “It is I who hinder the sand from choking the secret chamber. I am for the protection of the deceased.”

Oldest Pyramid
Well now it is time to estimate the oldest pyramid, the oldest pyramid would have to be Pyramid of Djoser.  The pyramid was built around 2630 B.C which was in the 3rd dynasty.  The pyramid of Djoser is actually a step pyramid.  Imhotep, actually built this pyramid, imhotep is a egyptian architect.  The pyramid of Djoser height is 204 feet, means it is about 62 metres high.

Mysterious underwater Pyramid
An amazing thing has been found, in the coast of the Bahamas.  Some people had found 2 ancient structures that look like pyramids.  Both of them weren’t the same one of them looked like one of the pyramids of giza and the other one was half broken.  It was a good thing that it was found as if we found a few more years later it would have nearly washed away in the currents.  These underwater pyramids are still a big mystery, maybe there still some around the world.

Other pyramids
Here are some other pyramid around egypt, a lot of pyramid have been found, but many more still unknown.  Here are some pyramids that I know of.
  • This pyramid is called The Bent Pyramid, this was the first pyramid that had been attempted to be a smooth-sided pyramid.  This attempted pyramid is built by Pharaoh Sneferu, in 2600 B.C which is in the 26th century.  The Bent pyramid’s height is about 344 which is about 105 metres tall, it is taller than the 3rd pyramid of Giza which is the Pyramid of Menkaure.  The pyramid started at one angle and then carried on with many more awkward angles, the pyramid is also called bent because of its bent shape.

  • This pyramid is called The Red Pyramid, the red pyramid is the first True Pyramid, it was built by Pharaoh Sneferu.   The red pyramid was built in 2600 B.C which is in the 26th century.  The red pyramid height is about 341 feet 103 metres tall, it took about 17    years to complete the red pyramid.  The red pyramid is called red because of the red limestone of its masonry.   The red pyramid also has a another and that is called The Northern Pyramid.

  • This one is another one of Sneferu’s pyramid it is called The Meidum Pyramid.  The Meidum Pyramid was built by Sneferu but it was for Pharaoh Huni.  He Medium pyramid was built in the 3rd dynasty, which is where the old kingdom started.  The Meidum Pyramid height was about, 306 feets  which is estimated about 93 metres.  The Medium Pyramid was supposed to be a step pyramid but it turned into a 3 step pyramid.  The Meidum Pyramid was also called.

  • This one is actually a really interesting pyramid it is called the Buried Pyramid.  I actually talked about this in the the paragraph of types of Pyramids.   It is called The Buried Pyramid because it is buried under ground.   The buried pyramid was constructed in 2646 B.C which was after Pharaoh Djoser built his Step Pyramid.  The owner of The buried pyramid is Sekhemkhet.

  • This pyramid was built in the 5th Dynasty, it is called Pyramid Of Sahure.  The Pyramid Of Sahure is about 154 feet which is about 47 metres tall.  The pyramid of Sahure has a really weird texture that is because it has quite a bit of stones covered around the bottom but a lot on the top.   The pyramid also had a temple but the temple was quite broken.  The pyramid was actually 160 ft tall but it had lowered down to 154 feet through the years.

Conclusion

In conclusion I would think that is probably how a pyramid is built and what is there purpose.  My other question was also answered that is the history of these wonder pyramids.  Even though it was a really long time ago people are still interested in this.
