NYLD 2018

On Wednesday 30th of May year 7 and 8 students who were on the student council went to an event called NYLD 2018 (National Young Leaders Day.  The people who where included were Nate, Tobey, Isabella, Izzy, Faith, Emily, Makaea and I. The event was held in Horncastle Arena.

NYLD is an event where young leaders listen to role models/special people and learn new things, but mainly get inspired.

My favourite speaker of the day was when Riley Hathaway talked about saving our ocean and cleaning up, it was really inspiring. But what caught my interest is when Jono Naylor talked about never giving up and it was really

My personal highlight would be when there was a giant Inflated T-Rex was running and when there were giant inflatable balloons were being thrown around, it was really fun and exciting.

These are some key things I took away from the event (NYLD 2018)

  • Never give up on your passion and your passion is yours. - Amanda Wilson
  • Being different is good, doing what you want to do. - Amanda Wilson
  • Always be encouraging each other, never be sad, always be positive.
  • Don't be afraid to do things out of your comfort zone,
  • Don't be scared of failing, failing is a good thing, make good choices, use your potential and risk failing, you can't succeed without failing.  - Jono Naylor
  • There is always HOPE, H-Humility, O- Other Focused, P- Play to your Strengths, E- Extend your self.  HOPE is LOVE. - Jono Naylor
  • Try get over your fears, never be scared to try anything, inspire other people and get the word out. - Riley Hathaway
  • Pick up rubbish to help clean the oceans and not make animals go extinct or endangered. - Riley Hathaway
Here are some pictures from the day:

Crystals!!!

This week in Science we had an experiment, and in the experiment, we had too make crystals, using black powder with water, and then we had to boil as we are mixing it.  So as we were mixing it, it dissolved and it created a clear blue colour, as we keep adding it, it slow turned to a dark green kind of colour.

So we came back again then Mr. Minto (Our Teacher), gave us our created crystals, not much had grown but it looked really cool.  It kinda looked like plastic.  We also had to take a photo of another groups creation.

Here is our photo:

Goody Goody Gumdro.......

Welcome fellow, bloggers, today I am here to tell you about what I did for writing this week.  This week we did the same as last week, remember we tasted some ice cream which was vanilla flavour and we had to write about it.  So this week we tasted the flavour called Goody Goody gumdrops, which wasn't really y favourite, because it had hard lollies.

So this week (again) we had to write a draft then we had to then get and give feed back and then do our final draft.

Here is my draft:
As I looked through the heart throbbing ice cream, I felt a shirll all through my body.  I scooped I bit out, it looked like a bright pastel wall.  Inside the cup was malachite world of wonder, there were candy drops, they looked like a blessing rainbow.  As I plopped the spoon in my mouth, it slowly liquefied inside my mouth.  It tasted like mint with a hint of bubblegum, the sublime taste of the nectarios ice cream.  I plopped some of the formidable gummy into my mouth, it was as hard as a stone wall.  The ice cream smelt like bubble gum the smell tantalizing I felt like I was in a whole different world.

Here is the feedback Mikayla gave me:
This is amazing Lyan I don't think you need to do anything but I love the part when you say*As I looked through the heart throbbing ice cream, I felt a shirll all through my body* keep up the great work.

So then here is my Final draft:
As I looked through the heart throbbing ice cream, I felt a shrill all through my body. The ice cream smelt like bubble gum the smell tantalising I felt like I was in a whole different world.

I hope you like reading my story/paragraph, if somethings wrong please do not hesitate to comment down below.

Solve multiplication problems using powers, Part 2

This week I have been learning how to solve multiplication problems using powers, I have already done a post on this strategy, but this time it is by using multiplication and division with the powers.  In that video I will  be showing you can solve the problems. I understand this strategy very well and can use whenever there is a power.

Reflective comment: I like how I spoke clear enough and the way I explained it, I think my next step is to figure the question out quicker and faster.

Solve multiplication problems with powers, Part 1

This week in my class I have been learning to solve multiplication problems with powers. It is a kind of complicated strategy but once you get it you'll get the hang of it.  I understand this strategy very well.  This is easy questions and an easy strategy to work with.

Reflective Comment:I liked how I worked it out and how I settled the template, I think what I need to work of next time is to explain it a little bit more clearer.

Maths - Dividing with Remainders

This week I have been learning how to divide with remainders.  This strategy is for numbers that are odd, and it is a stage 7 strategy.  I found this lesson quiet hard to understand, I like this strategy because it could help me with my divisions because I don't know much of it.  I hope you like it and have a great day.
