SLJ 2020-2021: Fishy False Teeth

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today I will be doing another post for the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity, we needed to create a comic for a video which was attached to the activity board. But before that, we had to read an article to learn more about the video, which was called Fishy False Teeth. The video was about two people fishing in the middle of the lake and a series of funny events happen. After doing that we had the choice to choose what website to use to make our template. I chose to do the template on the slide.

SLJ 2020-2021: Your Comments Count

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today I will be doing an activity for the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity, we had to do a quality comment on a student's blog and then post it on our blog. I decided to comment on a blog from Waikowhai Primary School in the Ako Hiko Cluster. After commenting we had to describe why our comment is a quality comment.

"Hi, Brittany! My name is Lyan and I from Hornby High School from the Uru Mānuka Cluster. I loved reading your blog post, it was very inspiring to read your chorus. The chorus was written very well and I especially liked it when you mentioned the subject of standing tall, I found it very motivating. When reading your chorus it reminded me of a poem I have read recently, which was called Stand Tall was written by Chrissie Pinney.

Next time if you ever do this again, I would suggest decorating the picture up a bit so that it could attract more viewers to look at your blog. Other than that your blog post was a pleasure to read. I hope to see more quality blog posts in that future! Have a great day!"

Positive: For the comment, I started with a  greeting and then I talked about the blog post and talked about what It thought about the blog post. I also complimented her on how she had written her chorus.

Thoughtful: I made a connection from the chorus to a poem I have heard about before.

Helpful: I gave her feedback on how I thought about her blogpost and gave her something she could improve on in future blogposts.

Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020 • Week 4 • Day 5 - Activity 2

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post! I hope you are having a great day so far! Today I will be doing another activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Enjoy!

If you did not know the Summer Learning Journey is a holiday programme. The main reason why it started is to prevent the Summer Slump. The Summer Slump happens when you fall behind in your learning. In my opinion, SLJ is a really great programme to do so that you can keep up with your work.

Activity 2: EN POINTE

World-famous ballerina, Misty Copeland isn't like most other ballerinas. She started ballet quite kate - ate 13 years old. This didn't slow her down.

She won many competitions. In 2015, she became the first African American principal (lead) dancer of the American Ballet Theatre.

When interviewed, Misty has said that she would like people to be able to "see dreams through me". This is an example of an inspirational quote.

For this activity, we had to choose our favourite inspirational quote. Then create a text graphic using that quote. Lastly, we hand to explain what it means to us.

This is one of my favourite quotes because it means to go your own way and fight for what you think is right. - For example, if you want the world to be healthy, you need to be healthy yourself. - Example from link
