Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020 • Week 4 • Day 5 - Activity 2

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post! I hope you are having a great day so far! Today I will be doing another activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Enjoy!

If you did not know the Summer Learning Journey is a holiday programme. The main reason why it started is to prevent the Summer Slump. The Summer Slump happens when you fall behind in your learning. In my opinion, SLJ is a really great programme to do so that you can keep up with your work.

Activity 2: EN POINTE

World-famous ballerina, Misty Copeland isn't like most other ballerinas. She started ballet quite kate - ate 13 years old. This didn't slow her down.

She won many competitions. In 2015, she became the first African American principal (lead) dancer of the American Ballet Theatre.

When interviewed, Misty has said that she would like people to be able to "see dreams through me". This is an example of an inspirational quote.

For this activity, we had to choose our favourite inspirational quote. Then create a text graphic using that quote. Lastly, we hand to explain what it means to us.

This is one of my favourite quotes because it means to go your own way and fight for what you think is right. - For example, if you want the world to be healthy, you need to be healthy yourself. - Example from link

  1. Kia ora Lyan! How are you doing? Olive here from the Summer Learning Journey! I'm from the Kaikohekhe Cluster and I heard Uru Mānuka has done some amazing posts and I've decided to head over to you.

Well done on all your hard work! I really enjoyed reading about the inspirational quote you picked! Mahatma Gandhi is an incredibly inspirational and courageous man. I always feel so motivated when I read, or learn more about him. How are you inspired by him? I personally feel really motivated to finish my university degree and make a difference through teaching!

Ka pai on all your hard work! Remember the end of the Summer Learning Journey is this Friday 24th January! Keep up the blogging, commenting and enthusiasm!

    Ngā mihi,
    Olive
