WEEK 4: ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE
DAY 1: BOOKWORMS
Activity 1: RAGS TO RICHES
J.K Rowling is one of the most well known authors in the the world. She wrote the Harry Potter series of books.Over 500 million copies of her books have been sold, making J.K. Rowling the world's first billionaire author.
While she was writing the first Harry Potter book, she was a single mum with very little money. She used to write while her daughter Jessica was asleep. She used her initials 'J.K' instead of her name (Joanne) because her publisher thought that boys might not want to read a book written by a woman.
J. k. Rowling has done many interviews which have revealed things about her as a writer and as a person. One of these interviews was conducted by a very famous television personality , Oprah Winfrey (you can find more about her one Day 3, Activity 1!)
As well books needing to be engaging and interesting for the reader, it is important that they are engaging and interesting on the cover too.We sometimes say ''Don't judge a book by it's cover '' but we often choose books (if we don't know much about them when they have an attractive cover!
For this activity we had to design a cover for our favourite book. I have chosen a book called Heist Society. The three mirrors/pictures are supposed to represent the things that were stolen, and I drew half her face to make it mysterious.

Hello Lyan,
ReplyDeleteI am Vitaraag and I am participating in the Summer Learning Journey this year. I am from the Ako Hiko cluster. I really enjoyed reading this blog post! Let me elaborate on why I like it. Firstly, you drew it in real life, so it must have took a long time to make. Secondly, you told us what the book was called. I don't really have a favourite book. I have lots of books that I like, but I can't chose which one I like best. Maybe next time you could write some back story to the activity in your own words. Overall, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!

DeleteHi Lyan,
ReplyDeleteGreat work on completing another Summer Learning Journey activity. There is only one more week left to get those activities done and gain those points so keep blogging and commenting.
What a wonderful artist you are. I love what you have drawn and can see you have put a huge amount of thought into the book cover you have created. I like that you have made your cover a bit mysterious with the images you have drawn in it. Can you tell me more about the book "Heist Society"? How did you hear about it?
Until next time, happy blogging :)
Emma
