Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020 • Week 3 • Day 5 - Activity 1

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post! Today I will be doing another activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Enjoy!

DAY 5: CREATIVITY +

Activity 1: MINISTRY OF INSPIRATION

So you might have heard of the Ministry of Education or the Ministry of Health, right? They are groups of people who give advice to the government. But have you heard of the Ministry of Inspiration? It sounds like fun, doesn't it?! Well, this is a real organisation based in Nelson, New Zealand. Their aim is to get kids thinking creatively in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, maths and society (STEAMS).

The Ministry of Inspiration hosts many cool activities and events, including an Aquabot competition. Aquabots are underwater robots. Have you ever heard of them?

For this activity we had to watch a video about Pasifika Aquabots and after we had to tell whether we would like to join an Underwater Robotics team at our school. (Why or why not)

I would love to join an Underwater Robotics team, I think it would be really fun to compete in competitions and learn more about robotics and how they work.

  1. Mōrena Lyan,

Congratulations on completing another activity! It's so great that you've continued to work hard on the Summer Learning Journey programme throughout the summer break - he whetū koe! :) (You're a star!)

Being a part of an Aquabots team would be great fun, wouldn't it? There wasn't anything like this available to us when I was at school so it's so cool for me to see how education has changed and how many different opportunities learners are offered today. Do you learn about robotics at your school?

Have a wonderful day, Lyan. I can't wait to read your next post! :)

    Mā te wā,

    1. Hi Mikey! Thank you for your lovely comment! Though we don't have Aquabots team at school, I think it would be really fun. We do robotics at school and there are competitions for it and it is really fun. Again thank you for you lovely comment, have a great day!

  2. Hello Lyan,
It is me, Vitaraag. I am back on your blog to see some of the fantastic blog posts you have created. I really enjoyed reading this blog post! Let me elaborate on why I like it. Firstly, you added a picture of the underwater robots. Secondly, you explained in detail why you would join. I would also join the underwater robotics team. Not only to learn more about robots, but to also have fun. Maybe next time you could add a bit more information on why you would join the underwater robotics team. Overall, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!
