Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020 • Week 4 • Day 5 - Activity 1

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post. I am now on day 5 and it is almost the end of the Summer Learning Journey. It's sad that it's ending because I probably won't be able to do it next year. Anyways, today I will be doing another activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Enjoy!

If you did not know the Summer Learning Journey is a holiday programme. The main reason why it started is to prevent the Summer Slump. The Summer Slump happens when you fall behind in your learning. In my opinion, SLJ is a really great programme to do so that you can keep up with your work.

DAY 5: DANCING QUEENS

Activity 1: THE WORLD OF HIP-HOP

Parris Goebel (Parri$) is a famous dancer and choreographer from Auckland, New Zealand. She is Samoan/Chinese/Scottish.

Parri$ started The Palace Dance Studio. She worked as a choreographer for singers like Justin Beiber, Jennifer Lopez, and Rihanna. In 2019, Parri$ and he dance crew, The Royal Family, won the World Hip Hop Dance Championship.

For this activity, we had to watch a video of The Royal Family. - What did we like about performance? What did they do well? What could they work on? From that, we had to write a review of The Royal Family's performance.

- The video did not work for me, so I searched one up on youtube. - Link

Review:
Their dance was amazing! It was like they were telling a story. It was so detailed and they worked so hard. The music was also very upbeat and it feels very happy. Their outfits were also very and it was very alluring to look at. I love their dance because it was so charismatic and it feels very trendy. Their choreography was so well planned and laid out. Their dance is very unique.

  1. Hello Lyan,
Wow! The countdown is starting! You only have about 1.5 days left of the Summer Learning Journey and you have to finish two activities. You are so so so close to finishing the Summer Learning Journey! I really like how you explained why you liked their dance. I also like how you talked about every aspect of their dance. I don't like to dance. I mean if I do it alone then I kind of like it, but I just don't like it. Maybe next time you could rate them 1-10. Overall, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!

Thank you for your blog post, you're so close to finishing the journey! Ka pai on all your effort! I really admire Parri$ Goebel's choreography and skills as a leader. She has produced some great productions and her dancers work very hard to make their performances stunning and effortless! I think her outfits are a little out there! You couldn't get me in pink lyrca if you tried! However I think their outfits make their performance look super professional and effective!

Remember the end of the Summer Learning Journey is this Friday 24th January! Keep up the blogging, commenting and enthusiasm!

    Ngā mihi,
    Olive
