Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020 • Week 2 • Day 5 - Activity 2

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post, today I will be doing another activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Enjoy!

Activity 2: LEADING BY EXAMPLE

Mother Teresa and Princess Diana were both people who wanted to do things to help others. They were very different people, however, they both had a significant impact on the world.

Mother Teresa was born in Eastern Europe but decided at a young age that she wanted to be a missionary (a person who gets sent somewhere to share their religious faith and do charity work). She moved to India where she worked hard and cared for those who needed her the most. Her work was recognised by the Catholic Church, which gave her the Tittle of 'Saint' Teresa.

Diana, while not officially a saint, was a real-life princess. In her role as a princess, she travelled the world raising awareness about a number of important issues. Through her work, Princess Diana helped the world to see that all people, including those affected by illness and disease, needed love and respect. Princess Diana and Mother Teresa both led by example with acts of kindness towards others.

For this activity, we had to perform random acts of kindness. With that, we had to describe what we did, how that person reacted and how it made us feel.

Recently my mother and I cleaned out our closets, we found a lot of unused clothes and other clothes that don't fit us anymore. So we decided that we would give those clothes out, to a charity. I didn't really know who she gave it to because I didn't go with her. (I am also not sure how they reacted but I'm pretty sure they must have been surprised) After that it made me feel really good knowing I gave something to someone who is in need.

  1. Mōrena Lyan! And Happy New Year! :)

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and you're enjoying your summer holidays. What have you been up to over the last couple of weeks? Anything exciting?

What a great thing to do! And so easy too. I'm sure the charity your mum gave the clothes to would have been very thankful. I quite often donate my old clothes to charities or clothing bins as well. It's a much better use of them than them just sitting in the wardrobe.

Have a lovely day, Lyan. Keep up the great blogging! :)

    Mā te wā,

    Mikey
