Business and Enterprise

Hi everyone! Welcome to another post. For the past 4 weeks, we have been learning about business and enterprise and working towards making a profit on market day. We had a total of 4 weeks to prepare and learn about how to handle a business, make a profit and create sales. On Wednesday the 23rd of September, we had our official market day, where people from the community and other schools bought goods and services from our business. The next day, 24th September, we were given a task where we had to create a blog post about business, enterprise, and market day. For market day my group created Filipino delicacies, Coffee Jelly and Leche Flan.

Business and Enterprise

Week 1: During the first week of Business and Enterprise, we were introduced to the topic and guest speakers told us about their business, how they work and how they managed to to get to where they are now. During our Wananga class, we learned more about the topic and got to create our groups. We only were allowed to have 4 people in our group and they each had a role. The CEO (Chief Executive Officer), Marketing Manager, Production Manager and Sales/Finance Manager.

Week 2: During the second week we started on our business plans, and another round of guest speakers were introduced to us. Our group was split up and we were allocated a place where a guest speaker would talk about our role in the business. I was CEO so I had to be in a group with all the CEOs. We also started our Financial Report. We also did our letter of application to give to our teacher so that they can accept our company.

Week 3: We started our poster for the front of our stall, we then started or marketing, like creating our logos, a slide presentation to be shown to the school and the community and lastly a poster for our stall. We did that for the rest of the week since our topic was food and our production starts on the fourth week.

Week 4: Week 4 was the week of the market day, so we only had 2 days to fully create both of our products. On Monday we created our Jelly for our Coffee Jelly and on Tuesday we completed making the Leche Flan and Coffee Jelly. Then on Wednesday 23rd September, we had our Market day.

Market Day

On the morning of the market day we all were busy trying to create our foods and set up our stalls outside this was between 8:40 to 9:30. At 10 we took out our products and displayed them on our table. Market Day officially started at 10:30 am, our stall had many people that bought coffee jelly and we had sold out of it really early, and near the middle of the market day we sold out our flans and people bought 2 flans with meringue for $2.00, which I thought was a very good deal. We also had a dj during market day, which I thought was very convenient.

Market Day!!!!

in the 26th of September 2018 we had our Market Day! It was a fun and exquisite day we learnt many things and achieved many things.  If you had seen my last blog post and you live in Christchurch, New Zealand I hope you had came to our market day.

A Little Summary on what happened on the day:
When school started we got started and we set up our product and our table. My groups was gonna cook our product which is Banana Cue. Banana Cue is a famous Filipino street food, it is plantain fried banana covered with brown sugar. Here is the procedure on how to make the banana cue.

Things you need:
Frozen Plantain Banana 8 per pack
Canola or Vegetable Oil
Brown Sugar
Pan   - (I suggest having a pot like this rather than a pan. But having a pan like that is also goof so you can get the bananas easily.)
Tongs
Apron,(or something to protect your hands)

Step 1: Put your pan on the stove heat it and pour the oil in the pan it must be at least 1 inch/ 2.54 cm high. So that the banana can get fried and the sugar would stick to it.

Step 2: Put the bananas in your pan/pot and cook it for 2 minutes or when the banana is golden brown. Then add brown sugar to the pan and moved the banana around so the sugar can stick to the banana. Make sure to always move the banana or turn round so the banana will not burn.

Step 3:After the banana is covered or half covered with sugar you can take it out. Make sure to be careful because the banana is hot and the sugar on the banana is sticky.  After that it will look like this.

You can also cut your banana which my group did.

Continuing on, on what happened:
So we started cooking and after we cooked about 20 we started packaging.  Our packaging was a cute little boat and inside was a banana leaf. We fitted 4 pieces in the boat and we put a little flag at the top with our country's flag and our logo with our company's name.  After finishing all the boats we had a little more bananas so we made some paper boats and put in some banana leaves. Our banana cue costs $1.00 for 4 and $2.00 for 6 pieces.

We sold our pretty fast so here is some pictures:
