What a beautiful creature!

Hello everyone! Welcome to another post today I have another activity I will be doing for the Winter Learning Journey. In this activity, I will be telling you about my favourite animal, but it can also be a mythical creature. Right, let's get started!

My favourite animal would be a 'Hippocampus'. Have you ever heard of that before? There are two meaning for what Hippocampus means, (did that make sense?). One of the meanings is for your brain, it is a small organ located in the brain's medial temporal lobe. The hippocampus is associated mainly with the memory, particularly long-term memory.

The other one is from a Greek Mythology, it can be called hippocamp or 'hippokampos' in greek it would be ίππόκαμπος, ϊππος from 'Horse and from the word κάμπος which means 'Sea Monster'. You can also see this creature in the movie 'Percy Jackson: Sea Monsters'. It, of course, lives in the sea it can also lay eggs and that is about all of the abilities a Hippocampus can do. The first time the Hippocampus was mentioned was around 760-710BC.

There is no actual information about it, as it is only a mythical creature.

This is what it looks like:

Yes, this is a drawing, it probably looks bad, but I try my best. Though I could have got a picture online I wanted to try and draw it. (Sorry if it doesn't have any colour.)

  1. Hi Lyan, this is again another wonderful post about your mythical creature. I am not sure how a Hippocampus looks like, but the drawing that you have drawn is good. It must took some time to draw the Hippocampus. A Hippocampus being mentioned around 760-710BC must be a really, really long time. I hope you like my comment. Bye!!
