When we went there we got introduced to 2 hosts they are named Samantha (Not sure) and a man which I don't know the name of. So they introduced ours to fire and ice (the first thing we were gonna learn). It was so cool we learnt what you need to make fire, and we even did some cool experiments.
First experiment... Samantha had to ask for a volunteer, so people raised their hand up and Hayle got picked. So what they did was they had this 8 ball (from the billiards) and they put it through a hole, they checked if the ball could fit and it could. So when she opened this soup container (?), with some Liquid Nitrogen and dipped the stick with the hole in it. So then she took it out, (she and Hayley were wearing gloves and lab glasses for safety), then she told Hayley to put the ball inside the hole. Guess what? It didn't go in, and that is because the coldness shrinks it.
Next experiment, when they put a piece of paper on water mixed with ethanol, they couldn't dry it so they put the paper on top of a lit candle and the fire came off the paper. But guess what? It didn't burn, why? It's because it has no reaction to each other.
The last experiment, they burnt a galvanized sheet metal (galvanized metal is when it is coated with zinc so it won't get rusty), when they burnt it created green sparks. It also made a hole in the middle.
After that we got to explore all the inventions and my favourite was something about the planets cause when you turn it, some liquid inside turns and make a cool pattern. We also did a challenge when we had to explain things about the inventions, and I did it and completed it.
Then there was another presentation with was called 'I Am Living', it was about how our bodies work and cool facts about plants and more. But they are all pretty basic, but I had so much fun.
What I had learned:
- You need Fuel, Heat, and Oxygen to create a fire.
- Water and Ethanol have no reaction to each other.
- An average human being poops 66 kilograms every year. :o
- Adults grow 9 meters of small intestines, which comprises loads of bacteria. :c
Reflection: I think I did very well on explaining what we had done in the roadshow. Although there weren't any pictures I think I explained it well. Next time, I should ask for some pictures.
I am looking forward to the roadshow next year, if they have one, I am also looking forward to trying to be a part of it. (Being one of the explainers.) Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading my post, I am sorry that I don't have pictures because I don't really have any. Have a great day!
