WEEK 4: Protect and Preserve
DAY 3: Taking Action
Activity 1: Predator Free 2050 – A Call to Arms [4 points]
There is currently a huge drive to get rid of all predators from New Zealand. Predators are animals that, in some way, damage our natural environment. Many organisations are working hard to accomplish this goal.
Click on the links below to watch videos about three of the current projects operating to make New Zealand ‘Predator Free by 2050.’
Predator Free Video #1: Cacophony Project
Predator Free Video #2: Taranaki Mounga Project
Predator Free Video #3: Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP)
On your blog, tell us which one of the videos you liked the best and why.
The one I liked was the second one, which is the 'Taranaki Mounga Project', I liked it because it teaches many things about protecting the endangered animals and flourishing other endangered animals.
Kumusta Lyan!
ReplyDeleteI just watched the Taranaki Mounga Project video myself - I didn't realise how many birds were being killed by predators here in New Zealand! It's so great that there are people in our country coming up with ways to combat this. (Not unlike what you might get to do as a marine biologist :) ). Have you been to Taranaki before? I'd love to visit the national park and see what progress is being made.
Well done on completing another activity Lyan. It looks like you're well on your way to finishing the programme! :)
Happy blogging.
Mikey :)
Hey Mikey thank you for commenting again, I haven't been to Taranaki before, but I would love to go in the future. Anyways thank you for your comment. Have a great night!
