DAY 4: INDIVIDUAL PURSUITS
Activity 1: MAKING A RACKET
Billie Jean King, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams are three exceptional, female tennis players. They are not only outstanding athletes and some of the beat tennies players in the world, but they have fought for women to be recognised as equals to men in the game of tennis. Billie Jean King famously beat a male tennis player, Bobby Riggs, in 1973, to prove to the public that women could at any level in tennis.
Billie Jean King was inducted into the Internation Tennis Hall Of Fame in 1987, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and was recently awarded the BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Lifetime Achievement Award.
For this activity, we had to watch videos about Serena and Venus Williams. After that we had to revise three things we have learned by watching these videos, we also had to include one thing we would like to know.

I hope you have learned something today, please have a great day!
Tena koe Lyan,
ReplyDeleteWell done on completing another Summer Learning Journey blog post. You are doing well so keep it up.
You have created a wonderful poster to display your learning about Venus and Serena Williams. Great job on attributing the pictures you used.
I had no idea that women were paid less than men in tennis. I'm glad that the sisters are fighting for equal pay as I feel it is a little unfair. What do you think?
Until next time, happy blogging :)
