Activity 2: WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of all time. He started boxing when he was 12 years old and went on to become the World Heavyweight Champion numerous times in the 1960s and 1970s.
Muhammad Ali was an African American man born with the name Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. When he was a young man, however, he became a Muslim and converted to Islam. When he converted, he changed his name to Muhammad Ali. During his life, Ali gave a lot of time and money various charities. He also helped to feed more than 22 million people across the world who did have enough food. Despite all of his charitable work, Muhammad Ali is still best known for his aggressive boxing style, his confident personality and his inspirational quotes.
Changing your name is a big deal! If you were to change your name, what would you change it to?
For this activity, we had to imagine that we were allowed to change our name to anything we wanted, after that we had to explain why we chose that name.
I would change my name (full name) to Celeste Elyseum. I chose that name because I thought it sounded enchanting. I also chose that name because Celeste mean heavenly and Elyseum means Arcadia (uptopia) or paradise. So with both names combined it would be a heavenly paradise.

Hi Lyan! Or should I say Celeste Elyseum? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting name! I can safely say, I've never met anyone by that name before - it's very unique! :) I like how you've explained the meaning of it and shared an image that you think depicts it. It must be so difficult for parents to decide on names for their children. Naming a pet is hard enough! Do you have any pets at home?
Have a lovely afternoon, Lyan. :)
Mā te wā,
Mikey
