Activity 2: One Small Step for Man
Neil Armstrong was an American Astronaut and engineer. In 1969, Neil and his team of astronauts flew to the moon in a spacecraft called Apollo 11. When they arrived, Neil got out of the spacecraft and walked on the moon. He is the first person in history to walk on the moon! As Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, he famously said, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
As you can imagine, landing on the moon is a very dangerous task. Many things can go wrong, and a number of astronauts have died attempting to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collines (the three astronauts on Apollo 11) must have been extremely brave.
I always imagine that walking on the moon must be like jumping on the trampoline! Do you like jumping on a trampoline? My daughter Laila loves it!
For this activity, we had to imagine that we were Neil Armstrong and then we had to write a short poem describing how we felt when we first walking on the moon.
I have chosen to do a Haiku poem because I like it and in my opinion, it describes a lot on what is happening.
I hope you liked reading my post, please have a great day! |
Hi Lyan
ReplyDeleteWOW! what an amazing poem! I could almost feel the anticipation of those astronauts as they waited to land on the moon! Do you write many poems at home? You should!
Your first two lines: "Stars were glimmering, In the everlasting Dark" were my favourite, they really painted a scene of space in my mind. Wonderful work Lyan!
One thing to consider in your picture is the background colour. You could make the text white and the background black to make it feel a little more like space. What do you think?
Keep up the wonderful work!
Gabe
Hi Gabe, I do write many poems at home and those are to practice for the one we were doing for school. I did think of it, but I wanted to have something colourful for the background. Other than that thank you for your comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Lyan, no problem at all it was a pleasure to read! Please continue to write poems, you are very good at it. The colour was also a good choice :)
DeleteKeep up the great blogging
