Summer Learning Journey 2018-2019, Week 1 - Day 3, Activity 3

Why, hello again lovely people, it is delightful to have you come to my blog. I hope you are catching up on my journey. This is the bonus activity for the Summer Learning Journey. Hope you enjoy and learn something!

WEEK 1: A Place to Stand

DAY 3: Awesome Animals

Activity 3: The WWF: World Wildlife Fund [10 points]
In 1961, a number of people came together to start an organisation called the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The main goal of this organisation was/is to protect life on earth. Hundreds of WWF staff work in countries all over the world trying to protect our planet and the animals who live here. To learn more about their amazing work, click on one of the two video links below.

Clip #2: Tigers

Once you have watched the video, go to your blog and, using full sentences, tell us:

1) The name of the animal the WWF is working to save.
They are trying to save the Amur Tiger and Africa's Black Rhino
2) What the WWF is doing to help the animal.
WWF has been securing, the tiger habitat in China and far east of Russia. The Amur Tiger's habitat is protected to ensure the landscape of the tigers.

There have been serious threats to the Blacks Rhinos from Africa. WWF is working with government agencies and partners with Namibia, South Africa, and Kenya. They did this to support the law enforcement agencies to develop and build solutions.

3) What, if any, success they have had protecting the animal.

For both of them, I think they have a 25% chance of surviving because they are both critically endangered.

Well, there is activity 3, I really hope they both survived as they are important animals to earth.

Question: What would you do to help endangered animals and why would you help them?

  1. Hi Lyan,

    Me again :)

It sounds like the WWF are doing a great job trying to save the Amur Tiger and Black Rhino. It must be incredibly rewarding to know that all of the hard work they're putting in is paying off. I would want to help endangered animals because our planet wouldn't be what it is without them and, in majority of cases, humans are the reason they are becoming endangered. I think people need to be educated properly as to the part these animals play in our ecosystem so that they realise just how important they are. What do you think?

Congratulations on completing another activity Lyan. I'm looking forward to reading your next post. Until then, happy blogging :)

    Mikey
